Meteorologists can use different models, which are based on data from radar stations, satellites and measuring stations on the ground, for their forecasts. Currently there is barely any data available for temperature, humidity and wind in the lower atmosphere (<2km). The so-called boundary layer contains the main trigger of phenomena like fog, low stratus, freezing rain and thunderstorms. The Meteodrone enables highly accurate measurements of weather parameters within the planetary boundary layer. These data are also used in the forecasting model of the Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) and enable meteorologists to forecast weather more precise.
