Within the framework of the Master's course “Lab and field work“ , Meteomatics CEO Dr. Martin Fengler gives a lecture on the subject “MOS and meteodrones“ at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at the ETH Zürich.

The students are introduced into the functionality of MOS (Model Output Statistics) systems, the advantages and disadvantages, common pitfalls, and the use in daily weather forecasts. However, as the resolution of deterministic models is continously increased, Dr. Fengler emphasizes the future importance of statistical processing of Ensemble forecasts. Further, he gives insights into the world of the Meteodrones, drones developped by Meteomatics for meterological measurements of the Planetary Boundary Layer.
