Early in September the cooperation between Meteomatics and the U.S. weather agency was announced. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, called NOAA, offers daily weather forecasts and severe storm warnings. To improve the quality of forecasts, NOAA will use the know how of Meteomatics Meteodrones.

Last week the Meteodrones rose up to the American sky for the first time to collect data about wind and temperature. In case of strong winds above 70 km/h the Meteodrones could prove their skills during more than thirty flights. Thereby the first project phase was finished successfully. The collected data will be assimilated in a model that enables NOAA to forecast thunderstorms and tornados more precisely.
