There has been a steadily growing demand over recent years for more accurate weather information that can be quickly deployed. This is an area of specific interest to the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry at ETH Zurich who share Meteomatics' excitement in gathering the weather data from the Planet Boundary Layer (PBL) that is required in order to better forecast fog formation and clearance and thunderstorms. Dr. Martin Fengler, CEO at Meteomatics, was invited to give a public of lecture at ETH on how for the last six years Meteomatics has been focusing on the development and operation of Meteodrones to close this data gap in the lower 1.5km of the atmosphere, and how the weather drone measurements that are gathered will revolutionise the word of weather forecasting.
