Weather Verification Cut From a Few Minutes to 15 Seconds

Before working with Meteomatics, DOMCURA's process relied on internal storm reports, weather portals, and separate verification systems. Claims handlers had to enter data by hand, manage screenshots and PDFs, and switch between several disconnected systems. The process was time-consuming, complex, and hard to scale.

Integrating Meteomatics weather data directly into the claims platform via API changed the process completely. "What used to take a few minutes suddenly became a one-click process that finishes in about fifteen seconds," explains Torben Borzek, Head of Claims Management at DOMCURA.

Integrated Processes for Speed and Consistency

Easy API integration was one of the main reasons DOMCURA chose Meteomatics.

Weather checks can now be started straight from the claims overview. Results are saved automatically in the claims management system and linked to internal cost-center processes.

The integration eliminated time-consuming manual admin tasks, including separate billing processes, manual report handling, and moving documentation between systems. As a result, claims handling became faster, more consistent, and far easier to manage operationally.

"Steps that used to be manual or only partly automated are now almost fully automated. That significantly reduces the verification and reconciliation effort and makes for leaner processes. It's a huge improvement for us, especially because time savings in claims handling are so valuable," says Torben.

Claims Assessment Based on High-Precision Weather Data

Claims decisions used to depend on time-consuming processes that inevitably created backlogs. Today, every claim can be assessed faster and more consistently, using high-precision weather data tied directly to the site of the claim. That makes it easier to tell genuine weather-related damage apart from unrelated wear or pre-existing damage.

That's why Torben values the strong traceability and the added assurance Meteomatics brings to claims decisions: "The precise, location-specific weather data give us an even more solid basis for assessing claims. We can pinpoint weather events at the site of the claim very accurately and trace our decisions transparently."

A Collaborative Partnership

Torben also highlighted the close collaboration during implementation. Meteomatics worked closely with the DOMCURA team to calibrate parameters and refine the solution against operational requirements and real-world claims scenarios. That approach went a long way toward building trust as the project progressed.

With Meteomatics, DOMCURA feels well prepared to handle future weather-related claims even faster and more efficiently, backed by precise weather data, automated processes, and a scalable infrastructure.
