New Polygon Aggregation

Monitor Precipitation Accumulated Over Any Defined Catchment Area

Now you can use the integral aggregation to see the total amount of rain or snow falling across a whole catchment area, like a valley or a village. This gives you a clearer and more realistic idea of how much water is accumulated in the entire area you are monitoring.

  • Enhanced Water Resource Management: Anticipate overflow risks and manage water reservoirs more effectively.
  • Better Risk Assessment: Plan drainage systems and protect assets more effectively.
  • Improved Flash Flood Alerts: Better prediction of water levels, making flash flood alerts more accurate and timely.

Radar Coverage Expanded

Broader Coverage and Better Insights in Overseas France

Our API now includes radar data for all French Overseas Territories — bringing real-time precipitation insights to regions such as La Réunion, New Caledonia, and the Antilles.

This expansion supports more accurate weather monitoring and forecasting across the full extent of France’s global territory.

New Temperature Anomalies Parameter

Our new temperature anomalies parameter shows how much warmer or cooler a day is compared to the 1991–2020 average (WMO standard). This helps sectors like energy trading anticipate shifts in heating or cooling demand, improving forecasts and pricing strategies. Available now via our API for easy integration into your workflows.

Our new temperature anomaly parameter allows you to easily visualize how forecast temperatures compare to a fixed, 30-year period. For example, this map shows the well above-normal temperatures forecast the week of June 23rd across the northeastern U.S. and southeastern Canada, along with the well below-normal temperatures across the western U.S. and central Canada.

Fresh Snow and Surface Skin Temperature Now Available in ECMWF ENS and VAREPS

Fresh snow and surface skin temperature (t_0m) are now available in ECMWF ENS & VAREPS via our API, extending the lead time in the Mix from 15 to 46 days. This allows for better assessment of forecast uncertainty, with options to explore individual ensemble members or aggregated quantiles — helping answer key questions like snowfall likelihood or temperature drops. Both parameters are accessible via our standard API and MetX.

The upper panel shows all 50 ECMWF-ENS ensemble members for surface skin temperature (t_0m); the lower panel shows the ensemble mean with uncertainty shading. With t_0m and fresh snow now available in ECMWF-ENS and VAREPS, users can assess forecast uncertainty and variability up to 46 days ahead.
