We are thrilled to announce that we have received the EN 9100 standard accreditation from the British Standards Institution Group (BSI Group). This achievement highlights our firm commitment to maintaining the highest standards in every aspect of our work, from development to delivery.

What Is the EN 9100 Standard and Why Is It Important for Meteomatics?

EN 9100 is a quality management standard developed for the aerospace industry. It was jointly released in 1999 by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the European Association of Aerospace Industries.

The EN 9100 standard builds upon the globally recognized ISO 9001 standard for quality management systems and expands upon it with additional requirements related to safety and risk management. These requirements include traceability of hardware parts and data sources, as well as risk assessment to ensure that all potential risks are identified and addressed.

EN 9100 compliance and registration are advantageous for any business operating in the aerospace industry, including major manufacturers and suppliers worldwide. Adhering to EN 9100 standards allows Meteomatics to work closely with top aviation customers, such as AirBus, and better serve their needs.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) occurs when two objects come into contact and static electricity is released. Common examples of ESD include the shock we feel after walking across a carpet and touching a metal doorknob, as well as the static electricity we experience after drying clothes in a clothes dryer. ESD is a harmful force that disrupts electronics and reduces their reliability. To prevent this, it is necessary to clearly mark ESD-protected areas with signs and aisle tape. We will ensure that all employees understand the importance of ESD protection and how to prevent damage in the workplace.

How Did We Get the EN 9100 Certification and How Will We Maintain It?

We have been certified with the ISO 9001 standard since 2020, which provided a solid foundation for our pursuit of the EN 9100 certification. To achieve EN 9100 certification, we focused on meeting the standard's additional requirements related to resource traceability and risk management.

We follow the standard’s strict guidelines for traceability and risk assessment of all resources we acquire from third parties, including raw materials, hardware, software, and weather data. We require our vendors to comply with our rigorous production and distribution guidelines before they can supply us with their products or services.

In addition to our external commitments, our internal processes and teams must also adhere to EN 9100 requirements. This involves detailed documentation, set processes, and analysis of key performance indicators to ensure that we maintain the highest levels of quality at all times.

Our Quality Manager, Zsanett Zsebők, conducts ongoing assessments of all departments to ensure adherence to EN 9100 standards, with the goal of maintaining a safety and quality-first and preventive quality management mindset within the company. Zsanett is also responsible for overseeing our problem-solving steps using the 8D methodology whenever a customer or quality issue is identified. Furthermore, she documents the lessons learned from these situations to ensure continuous improvement and optimisation of our quality management processes.

To further reinforce our commitment to quality and safety, an external audit team from the BSI Group conducts an annual audit of Meteomatics to verify that all our processes are in place and in compliance with the EN 9100 standard's requirements. These audits provide us with valuable feedback on our operations and help us to identify areas for improvement.

This achievement is a result of the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and we are proud to offer our customers, business partners and colleagues the assurance of operating to the highest standards.

Protecting electronic components that are sensitive to ESD is very important in assembly processes or environments. ESD control products are needed in order to prevent damage from the electrical charges that accumulate during manufacturing processes.

Quality Standards: A Key to Scalable and Efficient Processes

By proactively addressing potential risks and opportunities for improvement, and utilising risk-based thinking and evidence-based decision making, we can identify and eliminate risks in a timely manner with effective actions.

Maintaining strict quality standards is crucial for achieving sustainable growth and ensuring that our processes are scalable and efficient in meeting customer expectations both now and in the future.

Ultimately, our commitment to quality enables us to build long-lasting relationships with our customers and partners, and positions us for continued success and growth.
