In 2015 a UN Summit launched the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agenda sets out a vision for a radically improved world: one which works to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. The UN contends that not only the social and environmental, but also the economic benefits, of meeting the SDGs are overwhelming.
But to meet these goals, we need to make progress. Progress which GERMANTECH strongly believes can only come from entrepreneurship because it is the most powerful way to innovate. Once a month they organise WORLDCHANGERS IN TECH Meetups, inviting key experts from all sectors who have a strong entrepreneurial mindset, and who embrace new technologies in their work and are keen to share their experiences. Each meeting focuses on a different topic related to at least one of the UN SDGs.
In November, the special edition of the WORLDCHANGERS IN TECH Meetup @Berlin Science Week focused on drone technology. Melanie Luther, our Head of Sales, attended as an expert speaker on the panel and discussed the role of drones in achieving a more sustainable future in areas such as transportation, health, communication, climate change, and peacekeeping.
